The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is responsible for the planning, promotion, co-ordination and overseeing the implementation of environmental and forestry programmes. The principle activities undertaken by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, consist of conservation & survey of flora, fauna, forests and Wildlife, prevention & control of pollution, afforestation & regeneration of degraded areas and protection of environment, in the frame work of legislation.

Additional Information
The MoEF&CC is implementing a UNEP/GEF funded Phase II Capacity Building Project on Biosafety in context of Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The project covers the assessment, management and long term monitoring and documentation of the risks to the sustainable use of biodiversity and to human health potentially posed by the introduction of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs).
